About Myself

I was born to the Nair family in Kerala, South India. All I can say about that is I came wrapped in a lot of hopes and dreams. Shortly after, we came to London.

First I was a singer. Walked everywhere with my microphone hairbrush. Then, I was a fashion designer. Snipped at everything in sight; saris, bed sheets, curtains.... In the late 70's, my Red Doll was the The Fashion Diva, wearing all the latest creations. Unfortunately, her career was cut short due to the loss of her left eye after an accident with my tailor scissors. Undeterred, I packed her up along with my other belongings and went to discover the world (the first trip by myself to the local newsagents at aged 7). Then, I became a foreign correspondent. Cutting out the newspaper, modifying only slightly, putting together a newsletter which I posted to my neighbours, threatening them with more products unless they supported me in my endeavour (some would say that nothing has changed that much).

Crossing the land to Adulthood, I became a Management Consultant (not just like that, but I only have a few lines). You probably saw me somewhere in London on the Metropolitan line, going to work. The final stages of frustration of my 9-7 existence became apparent as I battled with the characters of Gypsy Masala on my journey, mumbling things to them, writing out their thoughts on scraps of paper which I would thrust into my handbag as I reached my stop. The other bemused commuters dismissed me as yet another loony who could not take the pace. The pieces of paper on which I dreamt eventually became my book and yes, my ego is still waiting for someone to read it on the underground whilst I sit opposite them. Essentially though, I wrote the book not only to sell millions but because I really want you to feel the magic of just dreaming and believing.
